The Perfect Combat Weapon for Star Wars Fans
Browse CXSABER's iconic double-bladed lightsaber collection, which is highly suitable for engaging combat choreography and casual cosplaying. The double-bladed lightsaber comes with light emitters on both sides of the hilt, creating a fluid, staff-like weapon.
The hilts of the double-bladed lightsaber are also longer, increasing its ease of use during combat. Due to its staff-like feature, double bladed lightsabers are often called lightstaff, dual sabers, saberstaff, and many more.
A double-bladed lightsaber wielder has more range during combat and can offend and defend from many sides. The long blade enables the wielder to parry strike after strike without moving too much. Hence, it’s easier for a double saber wielder to go on the offense and attack many enemies at once.
The great thing about double bladed lightsaber is its versatility. Most double bladed lightsabers are connected by a hinge (like the Temple Guard lightsaber) or can detach from each other (split sabers). Therefore, when the situation is dire, a wielder can detach the double bladed saber should one blade get damaged.
Brief Double Bladed Lightsaber History
The double bladed lightsaber first appeared in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999). It’s wielded by a Dathomirian Zabrak Sith Lord Darth Maul. This appearance popularized the double bladed lightsaber variant. Since then, this lightsaber model has been associated with many characters like Assajj Ventress, Satele Shan, Cal Kestis, Bastila Shan, Pong Krell, and many more.
Then, as the Star Wars lore gets more and more advanced, we learn that the double-bladed lightsaber is first wielded by Exar Kun of the Qel-Droma epics. The former Jedi who turns into the Dark Lord of the Sith killed his old master with a double bladed lightsaber he made himself. The invention of this unexpected lightsaber caught the Jedi off guard and turned the tide of the battle swiftly.
Double Bladed Lightsaber Form
Double bladed lightsaber wielders are usually experts in the Jar’Kai and Niman combat forms, which gives them better control. The Jar’Kai form allows more range when the wielder is moving, actively parrying and attacking. The ‘Rising Whirlwind’ technique (spinning the blade to parry attacks) helps wielders protect their body with one blade and attack people with the other one.
The Niman combat form, adapted by the Jedi from the Legion of Lettows, is also effective for dual-bladed combat. However, this technique isn’t as popular as the Jar’Kai.
Are Double Bladed Lightsabers Great for Dueling?
Yes, double bladed lightsabers are great for dueling. Most double bladed lightsabers, like CXSABER’s, are lightweight with a long reach, a fun way to duel with friends. Moreover, the lightsaber can be separated into two working lightsabers, so you can share the other blade with a friend.
The double bladed lightsaber is also majestic to behold, adding a degree of grace and power to your movements. The twin blades can catch your opponents off guard, lowering their defense. Furthermore, you can focus on one opponent and parry the other with two working blades.
The saberstaff is also great for trickery. Distract your opponent with one side of the blade and strike them with the other one when the opportunity arises.

Double Bladed Lightsaber: What Combat Form Should I Use?
Double bladed lightsabers are versatile weapons, but they require a more complex form than the standard ones.
Dual lightsabers wielders usually use Form IV, Ataru. The aggressiveness and the strength behind every swing help wielders expand their range, catching their opponents off-guard.
Other than Form IV, most double bladed saber duelers use Form VI, Niman. This Form creates balance, fitting for a person balancing two blades. The principles of this form led to the emergence of Jar'Kai, a specialised double-bladed technique utilized by Darth Maul.
