Ewan McGregor: A Star Wars Hero Honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Ewan McGregor, celebrated for his portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars saga, was awarded the 2,798th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 15th. His star is situated adjacent to that of Carrie Fisher, who portrayed Princess Leia.

With a career spanning nearly three decades, McGregor's journey began in 1994 with roles in Bill Forsyth's "Being Human" and Danny Boyle's "Shallow Grave." His breakthrough came in 1996 as Mark Renton in Boyle's "Trainspotting." This role catapulted him to international fame, leading to his casting as the iconic Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels from 1999 to 2005, and later in the 2022 series "Kenobi." His filmography also boasts roles in "Moulin Rouge," "A Gentleman in Moscow," "Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio," "Raymond and Ray," "Black Hawk Down," and "Salmon Fishing In The Yemen." In 2013, he was appointed OBE for his contributions to drama and charity, and he has received an Emmy award in 2021 and a Golden Globe in 2018.

The induction ceremony was graced by his Star Wars co-star Hayden Christensen, who introduced McGregor as "the quintessential Jedi master" and "the epitome of cool." It was a poignant moment, as Christensen's character Anakin would not have shared such praise for Obi-Wan, making his words all the more meaningful.

In his acceptance speech, McGregor expressed his lifelong dream and gratitude, saying, "Ever since I was a child, I aspired to be an actor. I feel this is my calling, and I am incredibly fortunate to have this opportunity."
