New Star Wars Anthology Comic Celebrates the Legacy of the Franchise

While not the most mainstream segment of the Star Wars universe, the comic series has always held a special place in the hearts of its most ardent followers. Among the most renowned Star Wars comics is the 2015 series, which has significantly contributed to the fame of subsequent Star Wars comics. In honor of this series and the Star Wars comic legacy, Marvel is set to release a special one-shot anthology titled "Star Wars: A New Legacy" on January 29, 2025.

This anthology will feature stories by some of the most influential comic book writers of our time. Charles Soule, renowned for his work on "Daredevil" and "The Death of Wolverine," which inspired the movie "Logan," is among them. Jason Aaron, a lead writer for the 2015 Star Wars series, and Kieron Gillen, the creator of Doctor Aphra and known for his work on "Darth Vader" (2015), are also part of the lineup. The artwork will be helmed by Ramon Rosanas, a seasoned Marvel artist who is sure to deliver stellar visuals.

As an anthology, "Star Wars: A New Legacy" will not follow a single narrative but will instead present a collection of standalone stories penned by various esteemed authors. Although the full plot details are under wraps, Marvel has hinted at some of the stories in their press release.

In Charles Soule's contribution, a gathering of the Empire's elite, from Darth Vader to Grand Moff Tarkin, takes place on Alderaan to honor Emperor Palpatine. Seizing the opportunity presented by this high-profile event, Doctor Aphra and Sana Starros plan a daring heist, unaware that they are being pursued by Valance. Adding to the intrigue, an ancient Sith artifact could disrupt the entire affair for everyone involved.

Kieron Gillen will also be unveiling the fate of Scar Squadron, also known as Task Force 99, in his story. This elite group of stormtroopers, under Darth Vader's personal command, posed a significant threat to the rebellion. However, their true fate has remained a mystery until now.

For Doctor Aphra enthusiasts, Gillen will be delving into Aphra and Vader's complex and beloved relationship in a new story. Fans will be thrilled to see Aphra's cunning and deadly droid crew, 0-0-0, BT-1, and Krrsantan, embark on another mission with the Dark Lord.

These stories alone are enough to excite any Star Wars fan, but there's even more in store. January 29th is shaping up to be a day of celebration for all fans of the Star Wars universe.
